Financial Assistance
for Winter Heating Bills

Palatine Township serves as an intake site for two programs that may assist low-income residents facing high heating bills.

1)  The Illinois Low Income Home Energy Assistance program (LIHEAP) provides qualified residents with a one-time credit toward gas and electric bills.  This program is administered through CEDA - Community Economic Development Association.

2)  The Nicor Gas Sharing Program provides grants once per year to qualifying residential customers.  This program is administered by the Salvation Army and is funded through direct contributions from Nicor Gas customers and employees.

LIHEAP PROGRAM

This program started September 1, 2014, for the 2015 season.  You will find below the Income Guidelines which will be used for this program for the 2015 season.

For each additional household member under 18, add $503 (for Minimum Gross Monthly Income)or $670 (for Maximum Gross Monthly Income).

If you are interested in either of these programs please contact the General Assistance Department at 847-358-6110 to see if you qualify.  You will be required to bring various documents to verify residence and additional data, depending upon the program.
