New Directions

First things first.  I want to thank Linda Fleming, John Powers, Vince Farina and Sue Johnson for their years of public service to the residents of Palatine Township.  It was a pleasure to work with them over the past four years as Trustee.  On May 20th, the new Township Board was sworn in, and we are off and running.  Art Goes, Bill Huley, Terry Kelly, Lisa Moran and I welcome the new members:  Tom Kaider, Kevin McGrane and Bill Pohlman.  We all look forward to making progress over the next four years.

Our commitment to you to reduce spending by 5% over the next four years is already in the works.  We will work hard as a board to accomplish this task without reducing services.  We also want to include your, our residents and the people who foot the bill for township services, in helping make our township a better place by participating in an advisory panel.  We believe by asking for more input from the public, we can accomplish much more than by attempting to move our township forward alone.  If you are interested, please email me directly about your interest and why you love Palatine Township.

We are beginning new programs that will be more inclusive for all residents.  While some of these are in the beginning stages, I am hopeful that we will have some of them on track for implementation before the end of summer.  Some of these will include programs for tutoring, high school job programs, shredding, electronic recycling, safety programs and much more.  We want to make the township available to all of our residents.  Like all improvements, we seek to make these new programs be at little to no cost to the taxpayers.  Please check our website for more updates!

Speaking of websites... We will be updating our website to make it more user friendly.  I promise a more accessible and readable site that contains more community recognition.  Our township programs survive on our volunteers and we want to encourage our residents to join our already hard-working and dedicated volunteers.  Watch our website for a list of volunteer opportunities and programs!

In this day of social media, Palatine Township will be taking full advantage of these free platforms.  We have a Facebook page, so if you have not already please "like" our page.  We also take advantage of email to keep you informed through newsletters and updates.  If you do not already receive our emails, plese sign up on our website so you don't miss out on great programs, events and notices!

Finally, look for us at the start of the Village of Palatine Independence Day Parade on July 6th, sponsored by the Palatine Jaycees!  As usual, we will be collecting canned goods, non-perishable items and cash donations for the food pantry.  Everyone who donates receives a flag, so be sure to plan ahead!

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and Palatine Township as your Supervisor for the next four years.
