Palatine Township Transportation Services

We have three vehicles offering transportation:  two 15-passenger mini buses and one 9-passenger van. All three vehicles are lift equipped to transport wheelchairs.

Service Area:  Two mini-buses and the van provide curb-to-curb service anywhere within the Palatine Township boundaries.  In addition, all of our vehicles go to Arlington Heights on Tuesdays for medical appointments only.

Cost:  For seniors 60 and over and/or the permanently handicapped, the cost is $2.00 for a one-way trip.   

Registration:  All Riders Must be pre-registered.  You can register at Palatine Township Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon.

Be sure to bring:  Documentation of age or disability (social security award letter), Driver's License or State I.D., proof of residency, and a name and phone number of a contact in case of emergency. 

Reservations:  Reservations should be made three to fourteen working days in advance, during working hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.)  Please let us know if you need the lift.

Hours:  Service is available 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed holidays and weekends).

 

Subsidized Taxi Service

Service area:  All of Palatine Township and surrounding areas as long as the ride originates or ends in Palatine Township.

Registration:  Included in the bus registration.

Vouchers:  Township subsidy of $4.00 off the metered fare.


Township Riders Initiative Program  (T.R.I.P.)

This program has been suspended in Palatine Township for November and December 2011.  The program will resume in Palatine Township in 2012.

Our Township Riders Initiative Program transports our seniors and disabled residents to medical appointments beyond Palatine Township borders, utilizing lift-equipped buses.

Service area:   The Program Pace buses travel into portions of Barrington, Elk Grove, Hanover, Maine, Palatine, Schaumburg and Wheeling Townships, as well as the medical campuses of Stroger Cook County Hospital, Rush Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago, Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines, Lutheran General in Park Ridge and U of I Medical Center in Chicago.  We also visit the following VA Hospitals: Hines Veterans Hospital in Maywood, North Chicago VA in North Chicago and the VA Hospital in Elgin.

Cost:  $5.00 each way, for every township border crossed, to a maximum of $10.00 per one-way trip.

Registration:  All Riders Must be pre-registered by completing a Township Riders form (separate from the Township Senior/Disabled bus Service form).  Forms and helpful assistance are available at the Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road, Suite 101, Palatine, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Qualifications:  Residents must be at least 60 years of age for a “Senior” citizen registration and at least 18 years of age to qualify for a “Disabled” registration.

Hours of Service:  Monday through Friday, from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Reservations:  Reservations are accepted by calling 847-358-6907 three to fourteen working days prior to appointment.  Please call between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and let us know if you need the lift-equipped bus.
