Yard Waste Program 2008

Beginning April 14th, 2008, we will be
picking up yard waste / leaf bags and will continue through November 26th,
2008.
Here is how the program works:
In early April (weather permitting) we will deliver to every home 56 yard
waste stickers. These stickers are to be used on yard waste bags (paper) that
you purchase for the following items: grass clippings, leaves, twigs, garden
debris, weeds, stalks, vines, bark and wood chips.
Please fill the bags to 6" from top and fold or tape top of bag closed. Please
do not put more than 40lbs of material in bags.
Got brush and branches......tie
them up with twine, bundles 4ft. or less in length and 2ft. or less in diameter.
Please tie them so we can easily lift them into the truck.
Place
bags or bundles at edge of pavement before 7 a.m. the day of your scheduled pick
up. Click here for: Pick up
schedule
Yard waste does not include: Wood timbers,
plastic edging, plant pot or trays, fertilizer or landscape fabric, root
sections, sand, dirt, gravel, sod, broken asphalt, fire wood, logs bigger than
6"in diameter or animal waste.
Here is a bright Idea!!!!!
Keep your Leaves.
As organic farmers and gardeners know, leaves make terrific mulch. Instead of
bagging them this year, pack them
around your perennials and on your flowerbeds as insulation against the cold to
come. If you have a vegetable garden, spread the leaves on top of it and then
rototill them into the soil to enrich it for the next year’s crop. Or mow a thin
layer of leaves into the grass. Leaves are also a valuable addition to a
well-maintain compost pile.
Additional stickers will be available for $4.00 per
sheet of 8 at the Road District Office @ 530 N. Smith St., 358-6336, or the
Township Hall @721 S. Quentin Rd. please call for hours (358-6700).
Pick-up Days are as follows:
Monday;
Forest Estates Subdivision, Plum Grove Woodlands Subdivision
Tuesday; Plum Grove Estates Subdivision
Wednesday; North of Palatine Road
There will be no holiday ( Memorial Day, Forth of
July, Labor Day and Thanksgiving) pick-ups. Please hold yard waste until
following day.
