Palatine Township
Snow & Ice Control
Palatine Township begins salting when the snow starts to
accumulate and traffic safety is affected. We spread rock salt treated with
liquid calcium chloride, which will melt snow and ice when ambient temperatures
are as low as 0 degrees. If snow accumulation reaches 2 to 3 inches, the crew
will begin snow plow operations. When this is complete the centerline of most
streets are reapplied with salt and chloride.
The Township has opted not to adopt a parking ban, but
relies on the cooperation of our residents. Historically, this has been a
favorable situation for us. Please do not park on your street if snow is
anticipated, or has not yet been plowed in your area.
Mailbox and Sod Damage:
If we accidentally hit your mail box please notify us
and we will make the necessary repairs to it as soon as possible as to not
interrupt your mail service. Permanent repairs will be made in the spring.
Going into the winter is a good time to look at the condition of the mailbox
and post. Make all the necessary repairs before the ground freezes. If you
need to replace the mailbox and post

info:
If we do any lawn damage, notify us and we will
restore those areas in the spring with pulverized black dirt and seed, as soon as weather permits.
