Palatine Township
Storm Brush Pick-up
Palatine
Township offers brush pick-up from storm damage as a service to residents in the
unincorporated areas. We ask for your cooperation in following the below
guidelines to help us continue to provide you with these services.
The
Township Brush Pick-up Program is for the homeowner's convenience. We have a
brush chipper designed to mulch those limbs and branches that do not qualify as
YARD WASTE. Our equipment is not designed to grind small twigs and evergreen
trimmings. Your garbage service will take yard waste and roots for nominal cost.
IF IT IS BAGGABLE, IT IS YARD WASTE.
WHEN:
We ask that you get the brush out as soon as you can after a storm. We will make
only
2 rounds in a 2 week period throughout the Township.

UNACCEPTABLE |
|
Long Limbs up
to 8" in diameter,branches, vines |
Tied bundles,
short snippings, clippings, roots (they can hide stones), bags, cans of
full clippings, and rakings |
HOW: Laid as neatly as
possible with butt ends toward the street and parallel to each other. Do not cut
into short pieces. Long branches work best. Keep stacking to a maximum of 12"
high. Spread the stack out. Unacceptable piles will be left.
*Note - Anything over
8" in diameter should be cut into fireplace length logs and used as such or they
can be left at the edge of the road for your neighbor's fireplace.
Please do not "hide"
thorny tree branches (such as Olive or Washington Hawthorn trees) inside piles.
Place these next to larger piles and we will take them. They need special care
to avoid injury to the workers.
