Palatine Township Food Pantry

The Palatine Township Food Pantry provides groceries and household items to residents living within our Township boundaries that have a need.  We currently serve approximately 340 families who use the Pantry every 30 days.  To utilize the Food Pantry, please call 847-358-6110 to make an appointment at the General Assistance Office.

The Palatine Township Food Pantry is open:

  • Every Monday and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Every third Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Donations

Most of the food in the Pantry comes from donations by individuals and food drives sponsored by schools, churches, civic groups and businesses.  Food drives are always needed to keep our shelves stocked, but each and every individual donation adds up, enabling us to fulfill our mission.  For creative food drive ideas, click here.

The Food Pantry gratefully accepts all donations at the Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road, Palatine.  Our hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.  If you plan to deliver large quantities, please call 847-358-6121 prior to delivery to assist us in making the necessary arrangements.

At this time, we are particularly low on the following items:

  • diapers (infant to 2T)
  • breakfast cereal
  • spaghetti sauce and tomato products
  • tea and coffee
  • chunky peanut butter & strawberry jelly
  • cleaning items & laundry detergent

Our website is a good resource to visit often to view these changing needs.

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."  Winston Churchill

The Palatine Township Food Pantry is so grateful for the many donations of food, time and monies throughout 2012!  The generosity of the people in the Township was especially evident this past Holiday Season.  Local companies did huge Food Drives, both at their workplace and in the community.  Lavelle Law brought in a whole delivery truck filled with food.  Arlington Toyota gave discounted oil changes in exchange for food items and had pick-up trucks filled with food.  Scout troops went 'Caroling for Cans'.  Dr. Gifford, a chiropractor, gave free and reduced treatments in exchange for food.  A woman, who had experienced real scarcity in her past, donated money on behalf of her sisters and brother as Christmas presents.  After learning that his elderly neighbor uses the Pantry each month, a man came in to find out what the Pantry needed and ended up writing a check.  Families picked out 'Food Ornaments' from the Township Pantry Tree and brought in items that are difficult to obtain such as apples, oranges and laundry soap.  Fremd High School's Service Over Self Club did a collection, another group did a Cereal Drive, and the football team came to do some heavy lifting, sorting and stocking!  Palatine High School did a food drive as did many of our local grammar schools. . .

We are also grateful for the hard work and kindness of the volunteers who assist 340 families each month.  In addition to working individually with every client, volunteers pick up orders and stock thousands of pounds of food each month.  We are fortunate to have more than enough volunteers who give of their time each week.

Times are difficult for so many families in our community.  Your generosity makes such a difference for people in need.

Thank you all for your time, effort and generosity!  Without your assistance, be it monetary or food donations, food drives, or giving of your time and efforts we would not be able to service the 340 famlies each month.
