Community Events and Involvement
During
the year, Palatine
Township
collaborates with numerous organizations in coordinating food drives, festivals,
and fund-raising. This community involvement benefits the residents of our
township.
Child
Safety and Abduction Prevention Program:
Every
Spring, Palatine
Township
partners with the Palatine Police Department to sponsor this program for
children age 7-12 years old and their parents. Officer Rick Clayton, Crime
Prevention Specialist, discusses the precautions children need to take to live
safely in today’s society. The program is offered annually in mid-May. There is no fee for the program, however, registration is required.
Bike
Bonanza: Every spring, Palatine Township hosts its “Bike Bonanza,”
an event which centers on fun-filled biking activities. The event includes
a bike auction, bicycle registration, obstacle courses, demonstrations,
safety instruction, and more! Detailed information about the event will be
available on the website in late spring.
Program Partnerships: Palatine Township and Girl
Scouts-Illinois Crossroads partner to sponsor programs for girls in the
community, age 8-12. These programs include “Uniquely Me,” designed to
foster self-esteem, “Girl Power,” which stresses the importance of standing
up for yourself, and “Go Girl Go” which focuses on leading an active and
healthy life style.
The program is
normally run in late November, check the website in mid-summer for dates and
registration information.
Palatine 4th of July Parade:
Every July, representatives from the
Palatine Township board
participate in the Palatine Jaycees 4th of July Parade and collect
food from parade attendees for the Palatine Township Food Pantry.
Downtown Palatine Street Fest:
This summer event provides the opportunity for
Palatine
Township
to meet Township residents, provide voter registration and hand out information
on Township programs.
