Palatine Township Linking
Policy/Disclaimer
The Palatine Township hyperlinks policy, (“Linking Policy”),
establishes the criteria used by the Township to determine whether a third party
can place a link to its Web site on the Palatine Township Web site. This policy
applies to the Township’s Web site, identified as www.palatinetownship.com,
and all subwebs, mirror sites and web pages contained within the Township’s Web
site.
The Web site created and maintained by Palatine Township is
intended to be a non-public forum for the purpose of providing access to local
government information, departments, services and programs. In furtherance of
this intent, Palatine Township believes that it is beneficial to provide links
to Web sites outside of the control of the Township under certain circumstances.
The links included within the Township’s Web pages will allow a visitor to leave
the Palatine Township Web site and go directly to the linked Web site. When
determining the benefit and appropriateness of such links, Palatine Township
does not discriminate based upon the viewpoint of the speaker. Furthermore, the
criteria used in deciding whether a link should be included on the Township’s
Web site is content neutral. Links are limited, therefore, to those Web sites
that are deemed relevant to the mission of Palatine Township, serve the
Township’s governmental purpose, and satisfy one of the following specific
categories:
·
Web sites that
promote tourism, industry, and economic welfare within the Palatine Township
community.
·
Web sites that
are owned and operated by newspapers of general circulation (as defined by
Illinois State Statues).
·
Web sites that
are owned and operated by local, state, federal government and educational
agencies.
·
Web sites that
are owned and operated by utilities that serve the residents of Palatine
Township.
·
Web sites of
organizations that receive direct financial support from Palatine Township.
In order to avoid the appearance of the Township’s endorsement
of political content, links shall not be provided to Web sites that sponsor or
promote a candidate for elected office, or that sponsor or promote any political
party or organization, whether for election purposes, ballot proposals or
otherwise.
Nothing in this policy shall guarantee that a business or
non-profit organization shall be linked to the Palatine Township Web site.
Palatine Township reserves the right to deny links to any Web site that contains
obscene or objectionable images and/or text, and further reserves the right to
remove links to Web sites that no longer fulfill the above requirements or
cannot be accessed reliably.
Palatine Township provides links to third party Web sites only as
a convenience, and the inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement by
Palatine Township of the third party Web site or the information, products,
content or services contained on such Web site.
The linked Web sites are not under the control of Palatine
Township and the Township is not responsible for the contents of any linked Web
site, or for the contents any other links contained within the linked Web site.
Palatine Township is further not responsible for any changes or updates to such
Web sites. Palatine Township does not warrant or guarantee that the information
accessible through the links on its Web site is authoritative, accurate or
factual. Palatine Township is further not responsible for webcasting or any
other form of transmission received from any linked site.
Visitors to the Palatine Township Web site assume the entire risk
related to the use of any data on the Township Web site or on the linked Web
sites. Palatine Township staff provides information for the Township Web site.
While we try to keep it accurate and up-to-date, we cannot guarantee that it
will be uninterrupted, that it will always be entirely current, that it will be
error-free, or that the Web pages or the servers that makes it available are
free of viruses or other harmful components. In no event will Palatine Township
be liable to a visitor or to any third party for any direct, indirect,
incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages or lost profit resulting
from any use or misuse of the data on the Palatine Township Web site or any
linked Web site.
